| As the Tree was wheeled onto Cornmarket, it was time for another coffee break. Starbucks obliged once again. This time, however, we were far less nervous, and managed to enjoy our coffee break and consider it 'part of the piece', or certainly part of the Cyclemas tradition by now.
As the bell of Great Tom struck 11, I noticed that the sun was shining directly over Christchurch Tower in the south. Not only that, but the sun lined up exactly with Christchurch Tower, The Cyclemas Tree, and one of the road cones we'd placed around the tree to 'protect' the public.
This extraordinary moment was pointed out to the Oxford Times photographer, who took a similar shot as pictured here. It was the photo that made the paper in the end.
Turbo-serendipity such as this Conehenge moment was typical of the whole Cyclemas project, although rarely was it as sublime as this. |
